PTO Walk-A-Thon Thank You

Dear EMS Friends and Staff,
As our fundraiser season has come to a close, we wanted to write a short, open letter of thanks.
With the commitment you showed during our fundraiser; whether it was your time, or donations, we’ve had our biggest year yet. Thanks to you, we’ve surpassed our expectations, both in terms of participation and funds raised.  This was an incredible effort and one which would not have been possible without each of our EMS students and those who donated to them. Thank you.
We are proud to be able to report that, a staggering $18,061.81 has been raised!  We are truly blessed to live in this community and find it humbling and heartwarming that you would entrust your valuable resources to us.
Based on feedback from our EMS administration are net funds will be used towards Chrome books and any high priority school needs.  To help you understand how your donations are benefiting the students at EMS, additional emails will be sent as the school year progresses.   In the meantime, we invite you to attend our meetings for information on our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
Thank you again, and we look forward to your continued support.

EMS PTO

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Our next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 (the 2nd Tuesday due to the Christmas break) at 7pm in the Learning Center.  We will be addressing the choice of the fundraiser for next year and general business as well.  All parents of EMS students are welcome to join us.

PTO Thank Yous

Thank you to all the parents who donated cookies for the Christmas Concert last night!  Such a great variety of sweet treats:)

PTO is still searching for the parent who has been donating gluten free bars/cookies as we have many request for the recipe.  If you are this parent or know this parent, please have them call Jaimie at 309-212-6257.

Thank you to the many parents that supported the October SIP lunch with your donations!  The lunch has become a staff favorite and very much appreciated!

A BIG thank you to every student, parent, family, neighbor and staff who supported our 2012 Fall Magazine Fundraiser.  The effort given by many students to just sell 1 order helped raise our participation from 43% last year to 51% this year!!  We were able to raise over $9,000 more than last year's total and exceed our goal again!  Every student that sold 1 magazine was eligible to attend a movie (principal's choice) and were treated to popcorn and water. What a blessing to be a part of such a wonderfully supportive community.  Thank you

Some of the funds raised have been approved for adding concrete to the existing tether ball areas on the playground.  As well as, the addition of 2 new complete tether ball areas!

PTO also approved the reimbursement to EMS of the cost of the summer make over of the new teacher's lounge.  The make over itself was handled by Mrs. Bardwell who did a fabulous job!

Next Meeting Tuesday, May 1st 7:00PM

We will be electing officers for next year, discussing the walk-a-thon,and preparing for registration mailings by reviewing what we did this past year.  Everyone is encouraged to attend!

2nd Annual Walk-A-Thon

1.  The Walk-A-Thon will be Friday, May 11th from 1:30 – 3:00.
2.  Last year the vast majority of pledges were flat donations. Because of that, this year we are asking students to collect flat donations rather than a donation per lap.
3.  In order for students to participate they will need a minimum $5.00 donation.  We realize that not every family can afford to give towards the Walk-A-thon and we don’t expect parents to be the sole supporters of this Walk-A-Thon.  We encourage students to get out there and seek donations from family members, friends and neighbors. Our community is very supportive of our schools and has proven they are willing to help whenever they can.
4.  For each student that raises at least $25.00, their names will go into a drawing. Throughout the Walk-A-Thon we will be drawing names for students to receive a variety of prizes and gift cards! Also, the student that raises the most money in each grade will receive a cash prize of $25.00.
5.  The grade that collects the highest total of donations will be given a “mystery” award as well.
6.  The turn in dates for pledges will be May 7th and May 9th!
